Best Online Poker Sites UK 2026: 6 Rooms Compared

online-poker

Betfred is our first choice for UK poker players, with cash games, Twister sit & gos and tournament qualifiers. PokerStars on Betfair is worth a look for game variety, GGPoker for tournaments, and Unibet for a simpler game without external tracking software. For low-buy-in tournaments, put 888poker on your shortlist too.

The best room depends on what you play. A generous tournament-ticket offer does little for a cash-game player, while a big tournament schedule is no help if its events start too late for you. Below, we compare six genuine poker rooms by games, costs, software and the terms behind their offers.

Research checked 21 October 2026. UK offers, fees and licence details are linked to their official sources below.

Best UK poker sites at a glance

Poker room Our pick for Main attraction What to weigh up
Betfred Poker Our first choice Cash games, Twisters, tournaments and live-event qualifiers The €1,000 headline is a reward to unlock through fees
PokerStars on Betfair Game variety Hold'em, Omaha, mixed games, Zoom and Home Games UK access is now through Betfair; use its current app and terms
GGPoker Tournament players WSOP-linked events, bounty tournaments and Rush & Cash External HUDs are prohibited; check re-entry costs
Unibet Poker Casual players and beginners No external HUDs, changing aliases and blind seating Less suited to players who want opponent tracking
888poker Low-buy-in tournaments Tournament-ticket welcome offer, SNAP and BLAST Ticket expiry is short; micro-stakes rake needs checking
partypoker Online-to-live tournament players Live tour qualifiers, fastforward and cashback Welcome bonus needs play to clear; payment exclusions apply

All six have a Gambling Commission-licensed route for players in Great Britain. UK licensing information is linked in each review. If you are outside the UK, check your local eligibility and offers rather than assuming the UK terms apply.

Our six recommended online poker rooms

1. Betfred Poker: our first choice for UK players

Betfred is our first choice for UK players, combining cash tables, scheduled tournaments, Twister sit & gos and live-event qualifiers in one poker room. It is also a convenient option if you already use Betfred and would like to try its poker product.

Its shared poker rooms let players from other sites join the same tables and tournaments. Your opponents are therefore not limited to people registered directly with Betfred.

The advertised up to €1,000 welcome bonus is unlocked in €5 cash payments for every 750 Club Points. At 30 points per €1 of qualifying rake or tournament fees, that means €25 in fees earns a €5 release. The 90-day period starts when you earn your first Club Point. See the full welcome terms.

Why choose it: a familiar brand with several poker formats and a clearly measurable bonus-release rate.

What to check: how much of that bonus your normal play would actually unlock. €1,000 is the maximum reward, not a starting balance. The offer and many game stakes are in euros, so check currency conversion if your account is funded in pounds.

2. PokerStars on Betfair: best for game variety

UK players now access PokerStars through Betfair. The move to PokerStars on Betfair brings the PokerStars games and player pool to a Betfair account, with desktop, mobile and browser options.

The choice includes regular cash tables, Zoom fast-fold poker, Spin & Go games, sit & gos and scheduled tournaments. Home Games lets you organise private games with friends, while the wider selection includes Omaha, Stud and mixed games alongside Hold'em.

Why choose it: the range of games and formats, particularly if your interest extends beyond six-max Hold'em.

What to check: UK players need the current PokerStars on Betfair service, rather than the old standalone PokerStars UK account. A game being listed also does not mean your preferred stake will be busy when you log in.

3. GGPoker: best for tournament choice

GGPoker is our tournament pick for its mix of WSOP-linked events, GGMasters and bounty formats. It makes most sense if you enjoy building a tournament schedule and want several types of event to choose from, rather than simply finding the next cash table.

Cash players have Hold'em, Omaha and Rush & Cash, its fast-fold format. PokerCraft supplies built-in hand-history and review features, and Smart HUD provides information within the client. These are part of GGPoker's own software; they are not permission to run an external HUD.

Why choose it: tournament variety and the route into WSOP-related events. Compare the ordinary daily schedule as well as the headline series.

What to check: entry cost, re-entry rules and the length of late registration. A large guarantee tells you the prize pool, not how many hours you will need. Cash players should also check their precise game's rake and any optional feature charges rather than assuming every GG format costs the same.

4. Unibet Poker: best for a casual game

Unibet is our pick for players who want to concentrate on the cards without building a tracking-software setup. Its poker rules and features prohibit external HUDs, allow multiple player aliases and use blind seating, which assigns a seat rather than letting you select individual opponents from a table list.

Hold'em and Omaha sit alongside tournaments and HexaPro sit & gos. There are desktop and mobile options, including browser play, which is useful if you do not want to install a separate client just to get started.

Why choose it: the way it handles seating and software makes it a sensible first room to try. You can learn the interface and play a straightforward cash game without needing extra tools.

What to check: no-HUD poker does not mean easy opposition. Experienced players can still play there, and the restrictions will not suit someone who wants to build a database of opponents. Check the available tables at your stake before choosing it as your main room.

5. 888poker: best for trying low-buy-in tournaments

888poker deserves a look if you want to try a run of small tournaments. Its current UK welcome promotion advertises £50 in tournament tickets after a first deposit of at least £10 using code GET50. That is ticket value, not £50 of withdrawable cash, and the tickets are issued in stages.

The important detail is timing: each ticket expires 24 hours after it is issued. Skrill and Neteller deposits do not qualify, and the new-customer restrictions cover previous accounts within the 888 group. Read the UK offer terms before depositing and check the ticket schedule against when you can play.

The room also offers regular cash games, fast-fold SNAP and BLAST sit & gos, with mobile play available.

Why choose it: the welcome tickets give an eligible new customer a way to sample tournaments without paying a separate entry from their cash balance each time.

What to check: the micro-stakes cash-game price. At $0.01/$0.02 no-limit Hold'em, its published rake is 6.25%, capped at $0.50. See the comparison below before choosing it primarily for cash games.

6. partypoker: best for an online-to-live route

partypoker is worth a look if you like the idea of turning online qualifiers into a live poker trip. Its live tour is a useful point of difference alongside ordinary online tournaments, cash tables, fastforward and SPINS. Regular players can also compare its cashback programme with their likely volume.

The current UK welcome package offers a 100% matched deposit bonus up to £1,000, plus £50 FreePlay. The match is released through play over 90 days; it is not added as immediately withdrawable cash. FreePlay consists of P$ and tickets, with the tickets expiring after 14 days.

A minimum £10 first deposit is required. PayPal, Neteller, Skrill, Paysafe and other e-wallet or prepaid deposits are excluded. Use the UK welcome terms, since offers shown to other countries can differ.

Why choose it: the live tour route gives tournament players a reason to choose partypoker beyond a deposit offer.

What to check: whether a satellite awards a seat or a package, what travel costs it includes, and whether you can attend the event. External HUDs are prohibited while the poker client is running.

Compare rake before choosing a cash-game room

In player-versus-player poker, the room usually earns money through cash-game rake or tournament entry fees. A small difference matters when you play regularly. Look at both the percentage and the cap: a higher percentage with a lower cap can cost more in small pots and less in large ones.

Here is a narrow, like-for-like starting point: published charges for ordinary no-limit Hold'em at the lowest cash stakes. Dollar and euro tables are shown in their actual currencies.

Room and blinds Published rake Cap per hand
PokerStars on Betfair: $0.01/$0.02 5% $1
888poker: $0.01/$0.02 6.25% $0.50
Betfred: €0.01/€0.02 €0.01 for each €0.15 in the pot €0.50

Example: on a $1.60 pot that is subject to rake, the listed rates give $0.08 at PokerStars on Betfair and $0.10 at 888poker. On a $12 pot, the caps change the result: $0.60 at PokerStars on Betfair and $0.50 at 888poker. Neither room is automatically cheaper for every hand.

These are base charges, before rewards, and not a ranking of every stake or game. Other limits, Omaha tables and special formats can have different rates. Check how a room rounds rake, when it charges it and whether an optional feature adds a fee.

For tournaments, separate the prize-pool contribution from the fee. An entry displayed as £5 + £0.50 costs £5.50, with 50p going to the room. Re-entering pays another entry and fee; a £5 tournament can become a more expensive session if you fire several entries.

Choose the game before the welcome bonus

Format Good fit What to check
Regular cash games A session with a flexible finish Blinds, buy-in range, rake and table availability
Fast-fold cash More hands with less waiting after folding Pool size at your stake and the format's own fees
Multi-table tournaments Playing towards a final table and a finishing prize Start time, blind levels, late registration and re-entries
Bounty tournaments Prizes for eliminating players as well as finishing position How much goes to bounties and when they become available
Sit & gos A small-field tournament that starts when seats fill Blind speed, fee and any random prize multiplier
Satellites Qualifying for a larger online or live event Target event, ticket restrictions, dates and package contents

A freezeout gives you one entry. A re-entry event lets eliminated players buy in again while registration remains open. A turbo has faster blind levels, but it still does not come with a guaranteed finishing time. If you only have an hour, a large scheduled tournament is an awkward choice.

With bonuses, compare what you receive: cash, tickets, P$ or a balance released through rake. Then check expiry and eligible games. A ticket for a tournament you cannot attend has little value to you, regardless of the headline amount.

HUDs, tracking software and poker apps

A HUD displays statistics about opponents alongside the table. Rules differ sharply between rooms, so buying PokerTracker or another tool does not mean you can use it everywhere.

  • PokerStars on Betfair: check your exact tool against the current poker software rules. These prohibit real-time advice, automated play and tools designed to select games using opponents' statistics.
  • GGPoker: prohibits external HUDs and real-time assistance. Its own Smart HUD and PokerCraft are separate, built-in features. See the network security policy.
  • Unibet: prohibits external tracking software and HUDs as part of its poker setup.
  • partypoker: prohibits external HUDs while its client is running; its software rules distinguish permitted tools from prohibited assistance.

Reviewing a hand after a session is different from consulting software while deciding what to do. A tool allowed for study may still be banned while the client is open. Check the room's current rules before running it.

For mobile play, try the layout before committing to a long tournament. Can you read bet sizes, adjust a raise accurately, find the time bank and switch tables comfortably? Download through the room's official site or its linked app-store listing.

Traffic, deposits and withdrawals: the checks that matter

Look at active games, not lifetime account totals. Open the lobby at the time you normally play and filter for your game and stake. Count occupied tables, see whether sit & gos are filling, and check upcoming tournaments in your price range. A busy headline event does not prove that your preferred cash game runs all evening.

Check the currency. UK players will often see dollars or euros at the tables. Confirm the cashier currency, conversion rate and any exchange charge when moving money in or out. A £10 deposit is not the same amount as a $10 or €10 tournament entry.

Match the payment method to the offer. A room may accept an e-wallet for ordinary deposits but exclude it from a welcome promotion. Its cashier also sets the available withdrawal methods and limits. Separate the operator's processing time from the additional time your bank or payment provider takes to deliver the funds.

Players must be 18 or over. Operators in Great Britain must verify age and identity before gambling; verification is not something you can assume will wait until your first withdrawal.

Poker rooms and casino poker are different games

This shortlist covers poker against other players. You compete for their chips, and the room takes rake or entry fees.

Casino Hold'em and Three Card Poker are played against the house. Video poker uses a paytable for winning hands. They may share card combinations with poker, but they do not offer the same table selection, bluffing against other players or tournament experience. A casino advertising "live poker" may mean a dealer-hosted casino game, so check what is actually in the lobby.

How we chose these poker sites

We checked the UK-facing rooms and their licensing details, published game information, rake tables, welcome terms and software policies. Betfred is our first choice for its mix of cash games, tournaments and qualifiers. The other recommendations reflect distinct uses: PokerStars on Betfair for game range, GGPoker for tournaments, Unibet for its approach to casual play, 888poker for low-buy-in tournament tickets and partypoker for live qualifiers.

This is a researched comparison. We prioritised game choice, costs, software rules and useful differences between rooms. Traffic changes throughout the day, so check your own game and stake in the lobby; the linked official terms let you check fees and promotions before joining.

Online poker sites: your questions answered

What is the best online poker site for UK players?

Betfred is our first choice for UK players, with cash games, Twister sit & gos, tournaments and live-event qualifiers. PokerStars on Betfair is worth considering for game variety, GGPoker for tournaments and Unibet for play without external HUDs. Your game, stake and usual playing time still matter.

Which poker site is best for beginners?

Unibet is our first suggestion because of its blind seating, player aliases and ban on external HUDs. That does not guarantee weaker opponents. Start with a format you understand and compare the entry cost or cash-game rake before playing.

Can you play online poker for free?

Some rooms offer play-money tables or freerolls. Play money cannot be withdrawn, while a freeroll may award cash or tickets and can have eligibility conditions. A deposit promotion offering free tickets is different: you still have to meet its deposit and account requirements.

Can UK players use PokerTracker or a HUD?

It depends on the room and the tool. GGPoker, Unibet and partypoker prohibit external HUDs during play. For PokerStars on Betfair, check your exact tool against Betfair's current poker software rules. Compatibility with the client does not mean a tool is permitted.

Can online poker be profitable?

Some players win over time, but skill alone does not guarantee a profit. Your advantage over opponents must cover rake and fees, and results can swing substantially. Track deposits, withdrawals, balances and all entries rather than judging profitability from one tournament cash or a short winning run.

Are these poker sites licensed for UK players?

The six rooms listed have Gambling Commission-licensed routes for players in Great Britain, with licensing information linked in each review. Check the exact website and operator when registering. Licensing provides regulatory oversight; it does not guarantee winnings or eliminate every risk of cheating.
