Baccarat has a bit of a PR problem. Put it in a film and it usually comes with tuxedos, private rooms and somebody losing the family estate before dessert.
Online baccarat is much less dramatic. You can find tables starting at 50p or £1, the drawing rules are handled for you and nobody cares what you’re wearing. That makes it one of the easier live casino games to try on a small stake.
For this guide, low-stakes baccarat means a main Player or Banker bet of £1 or less. We checked the games, public UK casino lobbies and supplier information again on 28 August 2026. Limits can change by casino, table, currency and account, so read the number on the table tile before sitting down.
There is a catch. A cheap hand isn’t necessarily a cheap session. Speed Baccarat gets through rounds much faster than an ordinary table, while an RNG game can move as quickly as you press the button. A 50p game played at full tilt can cost more than a slower £1 table.
4 Best Low-Stakes Baccarat Games in 2026
| Game | Provider | Lowest Stake Checked | Best Main Bet | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pragmatic Play Baccarat | Pragmatic Play | From £0.50 where offered | Banker, 1.06% house edge | Lowest starting stake |
| Speed Baccarat | Evolution | From £1 | Banker, 1.06% house edge | Fast live rounds |
| Baccarat 1 | Playtech | £1 at Genting Casino | Banker, 1.06% house edge | Straightforward live play |
| No Commission Baccarat A | Ezugi | £1 at Genting Casino | Player, about 1.24% house edge | No 5% commission calculation |
These are the smallest main-bet limits we could verify, not a promise that every casino runs the same configuration. Side bets can have separate minimums. RTP and house edge depend on which position you back.
#4. No Commission Baccarat A from Ezugi
"No commission" sounds like the obvious bargain. It isn’t.
On a normal baccarat table, a winning Banker bet pays 0.95 to 1 because the casino takes 5% commission. No Commission Baccarat pays Banker at even money instead, except when Banker wins with a total of six. That particular win pays only 0.5 to 1.
The dealer no longer has to deduct commission, which keeps settlement simple. The trade-off is mathematical: under the common half-pay-on-six rule, the Banker house edge rises from about 1.06% to roughly 1.46%. Player stays around 1.24%.
Cleaner, yes. Cheaper, no.
- Minimum Stake: £1 at the Genting table checked
- Main Bets: Player is the better choice on this paytable
- House Edge: About 1.24% on Player and 1.46% on Banker
- Format: Standard-paced live Punto Banco with a modified Banker payout
Genting currently publishes a 98.5% RTP for Ezugi’s No Commission Baccarat A and lists no special bets. Open the in-game rules before playing, as no-commission tables don’t all use the same paytable.
Visit Genting Casino and search for No Commission Baccarat A.
#3. Baccarat 1 from Playtech
Playtech’s Baccarat 1 is for people who want baccarat to look like baccarat. Real cards, a live dealer and the familiar Player, Banker and Tie positions. No lightning strikes, multiplier cannon or game-show host shouting at you.
Genting lists this table with a £1 minimum, a £5 maximum and a 98.94% RTP. That top figure belongs to Banker under the standard 5% commission rules. It isn’t the return for every bet on the layout.
Player wins pay 1:1, Banker wins pay 0.95:1 after commission and Tie normally pays 8:1. If Player and Banker finish level, main bets on either hand are returned.
- Minimum Stake: £1
- Best Main Bet: Banker, with a house edge of about 1.06%
- Player House Edge: About 1.24%
- Special Bets: None on the current Genting listing
And that’s about it. When you’re learning baccarat, being able to see the cards and follow the totals is more useful than having six side bets flashing at once.
Check Genting Casino for the current Baccarat 1 table limit.
#2. Speed Baccarat from Evolution
This is baccarat with most of the waiting taken out. Evolution deals the cards face up and puts a round at about 27 seconds, compared with roughly 48 seconds on its standard table.
The quicker deal doesn’t change the core odds. Banker still carries a house edge of about 1.06%, Player about 1.24%, and the usual 8:1 Tie remains a painful 14.36%. Speed Baccarat simply gives you more chances to place those bets in the same amount of time.
That is either the appeal or the problem. Nobody misses a long squeeze when they only have twenty minutes to play. On the other hand, a player who automatically bets whenever the window opens can get through more than twice as many rounds as expected. The minimum controls one hand. It doesn’t control the next 50.
- Round Time: Approximately 27 seconds
- Minimum Stake: From £1 on the UK tables checked
- Best Main Bet: Banker
PlayOJO’s current UK baccarat lobby lists several Evolution Speed Baccarat tables and says its live baccarat stakes start at £1. Individual tables can still differ.
See the rules, limits and game details on our Speed Baccarat page, or visit PlayOJO and search for an Evolution table.
#1. Baccarat from Pragmatic Play
The 50p minimum wins it.
Pragmatic Play Baccarat was the only game in our check with a current 50p starting configuration. The provider uses the usual Player, Banker and Tie bets with the drawing handled automatically. Casinos may carry the live game, the RNG table game or both, and the operator chooses the limits. Look for the 50p version rather than assuming every copy starts there.
Pragmatic Play’s game page publishes an RTP of 98.76%. That matches the Player return under standard baccarat rules. On the conventional commission game, Banker returns 98.94% over the theoretical long run, while an 8:1 Tie returns 85.64%. Baccarat doesn’t have one universal RTP because each betting position has its own maths.
The interface includes the familiar roadmaps showing previous Banker, Player and Tie results. They’re records, not prediction tools. A run of Banker wins doesn’t make Player due, and it doesn’t make Banker hot. The shoe has no idea what pattern is on your screen.
- Lowest Stake Found: £0.50 where the low-limit configuration is offered
- Versions: Live and RNG, depending on the casino
- Best Main Bet: Banker on the standard 5% commission game
- Watch Out For: Very fast repeat play on the RNG version
The RNG table can deal again as soon as the last hand settles. If you use the 50p version, decide on a number of hands as well as a cash budget.

How Much Does Low-Stakes Baccarat Cost per Hour?
Here is where "low stakes" gets slippery. Casinos advertise the minimum per round because "£1 baccarat" sounds harmless. Your balance feels the number of bets you place.
| Format | Published Round Length | Maximum Rounds per Hour | Turnover at £1 per Round | Theoretical Banker Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evolution standard live baccarat | About 48 seconds | 75 | Up to £75 | About 80p |
| Evolution Speed Baccarat | About 27 seconds | About 133 | Up to £133 | About £1.41 |
| RNG baccarat | Player-controlled | Depends on your pace | Depends on your pace | Depends on total turnover |
The first two rows divide one hour by Evolution’s published round lengths. They’re theoretical maximums: every round begins immediately, you never miss a betting window and nothing interrupts play. A real session can be slower because of pauses, table changes, connection delays or making a cup of tea.
The final column applies the standard 1.06% Banker house edge to total stakes. It does not predict that you’ll lose exactly 80p or £1.41 after an hour. Short sessions jump around because each hand wins, loses or ties; the percentage only becomes meaningful over a very large number of bets.
Turnover is easier to use for a session budget. Twenty hands at 50p means £10 staked in total. Twenty hands at £1 means £20. Some of that money may come back in wins, but it has all been put at risk.
Baccarat Odds, RTP and Payouts
Baccarat doesn’t have one RTP. It has a return for every bet on the layout. On a standard eight-deck commission game, the main figures look like this:
| Bet | Typical Payout | House Edge | Theoretical RTP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banker | 0.95:1 after 5% commission | About 1.06% | About 98.94% |
| Player | 1:1 | About 1.24% | About 98.76% |
| Tie | 8:1 | About 14.36% | About 85.64% |
| Player or Banker Pair | Usually 11:1 | About 10.36% | About 89.64% |
Banker is normally called the best baccarat bet because it loses the smallest percentage mathematically. It still has a house edge. Player is only slightly behind and avoids commission, while Tie and Pair produce bigger-looking payouts by winning much less often.
Check the table’s paytable. A 9:1 Tie is better than 8:1, no-commission rules change the Banker calculation and multiplier variants can change it again.
How to Play Low-Stakes Baccarat
The version most UK players meet online is Punto Banco. Despite the glamorous name, your job is short:
- Choose Player, Banker or Tie.
- Place a stake before the betting timer closes.
- Two cards are dealt to Player and two to Banker.
- The table applies the fixed third-card rules.
- The hand closest to nine wins.
That’s it.
You aren’t the "Player" hand, and the dealer isn’t the "Banker" hand. They’re simply the two sides you can back.
Card Values
- Ace: 1 point
- Cards 2 to 9: Face value
- 10, Jack, Queen and King: 0 points
Only the last digit of a total counts. A 7 and 6 make 13, so the hand is worth 3. A 9 and King make 9. Nine is the best possible total.
The Third-Card Rules
You don’t choose whether either hand draws. The table follows these rules:
| Hand | Two-Card Total | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Either hand | 8 or 9 | Natural; both hands stand |
| Player | 0 to 5 | Draws a third card |
| Player | 6 or 7 | Stands |
| Banker, if Player stands | 0 to 5 | Draws; Banker stands on 6 or 7 |
| Banker, if Player draws | 0 to 2 | Always draws |
| Banker, if Player draws | 3 | Draws unless Player’s third card is 8 |
| Banker, if Player draws | 4 | Draws when Player’s third card is 2 to 7 |
| Banker, if Player draws | 5 | Draws when Player’s third card is 4 to 7 |
| Banker, if Player draws | 6 | Draws when Player’s third card is 6 or 7 |
| Banker | 7 | Stands |
You don’t need to memorise any of this. The table does it for you.
What to Check Before Joining a Low-Limit Table
- The main-bet minimum: make sure the advertised 50p or £1 applies to Player and Banker. A tiny side-bet chip doesn’t make the whole table low stakes.
- Commission rules: standard 5% commission gives Banker the lower 1.06% edge. No Commission Baccarat is simpler to settle but usually raises it to about 1.46%.
- Game pace: a £1 speed table can put more money into action than a slower £2 table if you play twice as many rounds.
- The Tie payout: 9:1 is better than 8:1, although neither makes Tie a sensible regular bet.
- Side-bet paytables: Perfect Pairs, bonuses and multipliers differ between suppliers. Don’t assume two similar-looking tables use the same maths.
- Language and opening hours: live tables can close or switch dealers, while an RNG game remains available whenever the casino is open.
- UK licence: use a Great Britain-licensed operator and confirm its status on the Gambling Commission register.
Five Mistakes That Make a Low Stake Expensive
1. Treating the Roadmaps as Predictions
Big Road, Bead Plate and the other scoreboards are a history of past hands. Nothing more. Following a pattern may make the game more interesting, but it doesn’t reduce the house edge or reveal the next card.
2. Adding "Just 50p" Side Bets
A £1 Banker bet with two 50p side bets is a £2 round. Half the money is also sitting on bets with much larger house edges. Small chips add up just as effectively as big ones.
3. Playing Every Speed Round
Speed Baccarat removes dead time. Dead time is also time in which you aren’t staking money.
Missing a round is allowed. The dealer will cope.
4. Chasing a Loss with Bigger Bets
Martingale and other progression systems change the size of your next bet, not the probability of the next hand. After five consecutive losses, the sixth hand doesn’t know that you deserve a win. Table limits and a finite balance eventually catch up with every doubling system.
5. Assuming a Casino Bonus Covers Baccarat
Table and live games are often excluded from welcome offers or contribute far less than slots. Since 19 January 2026, UK bonus wagering requirements can’t exceed 10x and mixed-product incentives are banned. Promotions are simpler than they were, but baccarat isn’t automatically eligible. Read the game contribution list before claiming anything.
18+ only. Low stakes reduce the amount on one hand; they don’t remove the risk of losing. Decide your session budget and number of rounds before you start, use the financial-limit tools in your casino account and never increase a bet to recover money. Top 4 Low Stakes Baccarat Games in 2026 [to Play Today] FAQ
What counts as low-stakes baccarat?
For this guide, it means a table where the main Player or Banker bet starts at £1 or less. There isn’t a universal industry definition. One casino may call £5 low limit while another offers 50p play.
Can I still play 10p baccarat in the UK?
We didn’t find a current UK table clearly advertising a 10p Player or Banker minimum during our August 2026 check. The lowest clear starting point was 50p, with the live tables beginning at £1. If you spot a 10p table, check that it applies to Player or Banker and not only to a side bet.
Which low-stakes baccarat game is best?
Pragmatic Play Baccarat is our overall pick because a 50p configuration is available and the standard game is easy to follow. For live play at £1, we’d choose Evolution Speed Baccarat, provided the quicker pace suits you.
Should I bet on Banker or Player?
On standard eight-deck baccarat with 5% commission, Banker has the lower house edge at about 1.06%. Player is close behind at around 1.24% and pays even money without commission. Neither bet removes the casino’s long-run advantage.
Is No Commission Baccarat better?
It’s easier at payout time, but it isn’t mathematically better when a Banker win on six pays only half. That common version gives Banker a house edge of roughly 1.46%, compared with about 1.06% on a standard commission table. Player remains around 1.24% and is the better of the two main bets there.
Can I play baccarat for free?
RNG and simulated baccarat games can be offered in demo mode with virtual credits. Our Pragmatic Play Baccarat page has a free-play option. Genuine live dealer tables rarely allow full demo betting because the studio is running for real-money players.
Are UK baccarat stakes capped at £2 or £5?
No. The £2 and £5 limits introduced in 2025 apply specifically to online slot game cycles. Baccarat tables display their own operator-set minimums and maximums. A low minimum isn’t a spending limit, so set an account limit and session budget that suit you.
Does baccarat require skill?
Standard online Punto Banco doesn’t. You choose a bet and stake, then fixed rules decide whether either hand receives a third card. Chemin de Fer and Baccarat Banque include player decisions, but they’re uncommon in UK online casino lobbies.
