10 Best Stacked Wild Slots with Free Demos

A single wild can rescue a line. A whole stack can help several at once, which is why these games are such fun to watch when the reels start behaving themselves. The trick is finding a slot that does something interesting with all those substitutes.

Some put stacks into ordinary spins. Others save them for the bonus, add multipliers or keep them moving through free respins. Our countdown mixes old favourites with newer arrivals, including Out of the Woods and Midnight Gold. You'll find a free demo beneath every game, plus casino links where we could confirm the game.

#10. Wild Turkey

NetEnt | 20 paylines | Stacked wilds during free spins

Wild Turkey reels showing a golden wild symbol

Wild Turkey has been around for years, but its bonus still makes a useful introduction to stacked wilds. There are five reels and 20 paylines, with a cast of birds who appear to have taken their mountain retreat very seriously. The ordinary game keeps things fairly simple; the taller wilds arrive once free spins begin.

Wilds have two jobs in the main game. They substitute in winning combinations, and three, four or five appearing anywhere award 15, 30 or 60 free spins respectively. You are looking for the wild symbols themselves, rather than a separate collection of bonus scatters.

During free spins, wild stacks can show one, two or three positions. A complete three-high stack filling a reel adds another two spins. That gives a full wild reel an extra purpose: it can extend the round as well as help the paying symbols connect.

It is an appealingly direct arrangement. There are no roaming collectors or complicated upgrade ladders to follow. The trade-off for stacked-wild fans is the wait, because the feature belongs to free spins. If you want stacks turning up in the ordinary game too, look further up our list.

#9. Wild Bazaar

NetEnt | 26 paylines | Four-high stacks in the Stacked Wilds feature

Wild Bazaar gameplay with a winning combination across the reels

Wild Bazaar takes its wilds shopping and comes home with four different kinds. The five-reel, four-row layout has 26 paylines, and the Wild Spins features cover stacked, colossal, linked and multiplier wilds. The market setting gives all those coloured chests and precious objects a perfectly sensible place to live.

For this list, the important feature is Stacked Wilds, which puts wilds on the reels in groups of four. That is enough to occupy the full visible height of a reel when the stack lands completely in view. As ever, its usefulness depends on what lines up beside it.

The other modes change the shape of the action. Colossal wilds take up a two-by-two block. Linked wilds fill the gap between the outer wilds on the same row, while the multiplier feature doubles wins that contain a wild. Those are separate features, so you should not expect every stack to do all four tricks.

Wild Bazaar suits anyone who enjoys the general idea of wild features but wants a little variety between them. It ranks below the more stack-focused games here because the four-high wilds share the stage. The alternatives are good company, though, particularly those linked rows.

#8. Royal Masquerade

Play'n GO | Stacked mask wilds | Win Spins bonus

Royal Masquerade gameplay showing a full stack of mask wilds

Royal Masquerade still looks the part, with elaborate masks and enough theatrical finery to fill a Venetian dressing room. Its hook-nosed mask lands stacked and substitutes for the ordinary paying symbols. Scatters are the exception, so a reel full of masks cannot stand in for a missing bonus trigger.

Three or more scatters start Win Spins. The name matters: each awarded spin produces at least one winning combination. That makes the bonus feel rather different from a free-spins round which can run through several empty results before anything happens.

Scatters appearing during the feature add two further spins apiece, with the round able to reach a total of 20. A winning combination can still be a small one, of course. The guarantee concerns an individual bonus spin producing a win, rather than the session ending in profit.

This is one of the older games worth keeping on the list. The stacked mask is easy to recognise, the bonus has a clear identity and the presentation has more personality than another anonymous pile of coins. If you prefer a straightforward slot with one memorable extra, Royal Masquerade makes a pleasant change from games that require a guided tour before the first spin.

#7. Flux

Thunderkick | 15 paylines | Stacked wilds and three bonus choices

Flux gameplay showing three yellow W wilds stacked on a reel

Flux dispenses with the usual kings, queens and adventurous animals. Bright geometric symbols float against a dark background, with the yellow W doing the useful work. It is a striking little game, and the uncluttered design makes a tall run of wilds particularly easy to spot.

Thunderkick builds the action around stacked wilds on five reels and 15 paylines. You get the appeal of a reel carrying several substitutes without having to follow an elaborate cast of characters or a separate collection game. The crystals provide quite enough colour on their own.

The bonus offers three choices. One brings wins in both directions, another adds three extra rows, and the third combines those two features with fewer free spins. That is a more interesting decision than simply picking between different-looking doors to the same room. The taller layout also gives the stacks more space to occupy.

Flux earns its place for doing something visually different while keeping its central feature obvious. The expanded bonus grid is the choice to investigate if the size of the wild stacks is your main attraction; the both-ways option changes how combinations pay. Try the alternatives in the demo and see which arrangement you actually enjoy following.

#6. Druid's Magic

NetEnt | 20 paylines | Three-high green wilds among five wild types

Druids Magic gameplay with the forest reels and rune symbols

Druid's Magic is a useful antidote to the idea that every tall wild works the same way. There are five types in this forest-themed slot, and the green ones are our concern here. They sit three high on the reel strip, although only one or two positions may stop in view.

That distinction is easy to miss. A partly visible stack has not failed to expand; it was simply stopped with some of its symbols outside the window. The pink wild is the expanding version. Red wilds add more wilds, light-blue ones link horizontally, and yellow ones occupy a two-by-two block.

The base game allows one type of wild per spin, with several examples of that type possible. Two complete druid scatters on reels one and five start ten free spins. The bonus begins with a selected wild feature, and retriggers can award another five spins while introducing an additional type.

The attraction is seeing those different behaviours combine as the bonus develops. With five reels, three rows and 20 paylines, there is room for a few surprises without losing track of what each colour does. If you enjoy more than one kind of wild feature, there's plenty to get stuck into here.

#5. Midnight Gold

Play'n GO | Choose stacked-wild free spins | Extra spins for newly landed wilds

Midnight Gold reels showing the cash bags and highway robbery theme

Midnight Gold sends its highway robbers out after dark, and gives stacked-wild fans a proper choice when the bonus arrives. Scatters on reels one, three and five unlock the free-spins selection. Choose Stacked Wilds and you receive ten spins with each wild occupying three positions.

The alternative is Roaming Wilds, which remain for the following spin and move to random positions. Both modes can gain extra spins: every newly landed wild adds one. It is worth knowing which option you have selected, because stacks and wandering substitutes produce quite different-looking rounds.

There is also a randomly triggered wild multiplier. It affects wins involving wilds, leaving other wins unchanged. A special gold scatter on the fifth reel, alongside the required scatters on one and three, starts Super Free Spins, where that multiplier is guaranteed on every spin.

Away from the bonus, the Deliver symbol on reel five collects the cash symbols showing elsewhere. A treasure chest can prompt a second-chance respin of the fifth reel when Deliver is missing. These collection moments give the base game something to do while you wait for the stacks. The highwaymen have apparently decided that one robbery at a time is too modest an ambition.

#4. Bushido Gold

ELK Studios | Six columns, four rows | Wild pillars, explosions and Ninja Drops

Bushido Gold gameplay showing samurai symbols, a wild and bonus symbols

Bushido Gold is the noisy one. Cannons fire, wilds explode and a ninja throws stars into a six-column, four-row grid. Released in 2026, it gives stacked wilds a much more physical role than simply sitting in a reel and waiting for a winning line.

A cannon shoots a pillar of wilds upwards, then becomes wild itself. At the end of the round, wild symbols explode, removing or activating symbols on the grid. The result is a game in which the position of a useful symbol matters for more than its immediate contribution to a payout.

The ninja can be activated by those explosions, a cannon or the Slice feature. He sends between two and ten throwing stars onto the grid, where they activate feature symbols or become wilds. Three bonus symbols start six Ninja Drops, with another two drops for each additional bonus symbol.

There is plenty to take in, so the demo is especially useful here. Watch what a cannon does first, then follow the wild explosions and their effect on the rest of the grid. This is a good pick when you want more movement and spectacle around your stacks. For a gentler evening, the quietly floating crystals of Flux are a few places further down the list.

#3. Space Wars

NetEnt | 40 paylines | Stacked symbols and Cloning Pod respins

Space Wars gameplay showing a full wild reel and alien symbols

Space Wars remains a lovely bit of alien nonsense. The five-reel, four-row layout has 40 paylines, and all its symbols appear stacked. Wilds are confined to reels two and four, where a full column can make a very useful connection between the assorted creatures on either side.

The Cloning Pod is what gives the game its character. Every win starts a free respin, sending the winning symbol into the pod to be copied and fired back onto the reels. You are then watching to see whether the reinforcements can produce another winning combination.

It is a satisfying fit for stacked symbols. A successful result can lead into another attempt with more copies of the symbol that has just paid, while the wilds continue their supporting role. You do not need to wait for three scatters to see the game's main feature doing its thing.

There are newer and much busier space slots, but this one explains itself remarkably well through the action. That is a large part of its charm. Space Wars stays near the top because its stacks, cloning and respins belong together, rather than feeling like three unrelated features bolted onto the same set of reels.

#2. Double Dragons

Yggdrasil | 25 paylines | Tall wild stacks, cascading symbols and dragon powers

Double Dragons gameplay showing a full wild stack between the dragons

Double Dragons is still a handsome game, with fire and ice dragons flanking a five-reel, three-row grid. The tall wild stacks are a proper centrepiece, but it is the combination of features around them that keeps this old favourite close to the top of our list.

Winning symbols disappear and replacements drop into the gaps, allowing another combination to form on the same paid spin. The two dragons then bring different kinds of help. Fire adds random wilds, while ice doubles wins. Their contrasting colours make it easy to see which creature is getting involved.

Four consecutive dropdown wins bring in the Double Dragons feature, adding two long wild stacks ranging from seven to 28 symbols high. Dragon heads also feed the collection feature: gather nine to enter free spins. There is quite a lot happening around those 25 paylines, and the stacks are worth watching even when much of their length is still outside the window.

The pleasure here is in following a sequence as it develops: a paying combination clears, new symbols arrive and the dragons can change what happens next. The wild stacks give it the big visual moment this list calls for. The music suits the grand, slightly over-the-top presentation, so this is one to try with the sound on.

#1. Out of the Woods

Pragmatic Play | Stacked multiplier wilds | Respins move the stacks down

Out of the Woods free spins showing a full stack of 4x to 7x wild multipliers

Out of the Woods takes our top spot because its stacks keep changing the next result. The woodland setting is suitably sinister, but the real attraction is the column of wild multipliers. A fresh stack starts at 1x at the bottom and rises to 4x at the top.

A winning combination with a stack present awards a respin. The stack moves down one or more positions, revealing higher multipliers above it, with each new position increasing by 1x. That gives you a clear progression to follow as the sequence continues.

Watch for the gold-rimmed wild. If it reaches the bottom and another respin is awarded, the stack can shift down by as many as ten positions. Three to five scatters award ten to twenty free spins, where the multiplier progress carries between spins instead of resetting each time.

It is an excellent use of the stacked format: the height, position and movement of the wilds all matter. The feature can stop before the multipliers get particularly exciting, but you always understand what you are hoping to see next. Among the newer games on this list, this is the one that gives its stacks the most distinctive job.

What are stacked wilds?

Stacked wilds are consecutive wild positions on the same reel. They can arrive as a short pair, a complete reel or part of a much longer stack. Each visible wild substitutes for ordinary symbols according to the game's rules, potentially helping several paylines on the same spin.

A stack does not have to fill the screen. Druid's Magic is a good example: its green wilds are three high on the reel strip, but the reels can stop with only one or two showing. You still need the other symbols to make a valid winning combination.

Stacked, expanding and sticky wilds: the difference

Stacked describes how wilds are grouped. Expanding describes a wild growing after it lands. Sticky means it stays in place for later spins or respins. A symbol can combine these behaviours, but one does not automatically come with the others.

That is why two slots with a whole wild reel can feel very different. One may have landed a complete stack naturally, while another has expanded a single wild. A third might keep that reel in place and give you another spin. Look at what starts the feature and what happens afterwards.

How to choose a stacked wild slot

Start with when the stacks appear. Space Wars puts stacked symbols into ordinary play. Wild Turkey saves its wild stacks for free spins, while Midnight Gold asks you to choose the stacked-wild bonus. If stacks are the reason you opened the game, that difference matters more than the theme.

Next, check what the stack adds beyond substitution. Out of the Woods brings growing multipliers and respins. Wild Turkey can award extra spins. Double Dragons combines its stacks with cascades and dragon powers. Choose the sort of feature you enjoy watching, rather than assuming the tallest wild must produce the best game.

Finally, open the paytable at the casino you intend to use. Some games come in several RTP configurations, so a developer's published figure may differ from the version in front of you. RTP describes a theoretical long-term return; it does not tell you what a short session will pay.

The ranking reflects the interest of the wild feature, the game around it and how clearly everything works together. It is a mix of newer ideas and older favourites. A recent release earns its place by doing something worthwhile with its stacks.

Stacked wild slots: your questions answered

Do stacked wilds always fill an entire reel?

No. A stack can stop partly above or below the visible reels. You may see just one or two wild positions even when the full stack is much taller. An expanding wild behaves differently because it grows after landing.

Which games have stacked wilds during ordinary spins?

Space Wars, Flux and Royal Masquerade are examples from this list. Druid's Magic can also produce its green stacked wilds in the base game. Wild Turkey's stacks belong to free spins, and Midnight Gold offers them as a bonus choice.

Does a full wild reel guarantee a win?

Usually no. It must still help form a valid combination on the game's paylines or ways. Royal Masquerade's Win Spins have their own guarantee of a winning combination, but that comes from the bonus rules, rather than simply landing a wild stack.
