About Google Pay

Looking for a UK casino where you can deposit with Google Pay? Compare our recommended casinos for the slots, live games and welcome offers you'd like to try. At the checkout, you choose a debit card and approve the amount. You can leave the card in your wallet instead of getting it out to type in the details.

The names are easy to mix up: Google Wallet stores your cards, while Google Pay is the button you choose when paying. Your casino deposit comes from the bank account behind your debit card, so there's no separate Google balance to top up first.

Using Google Pay at UK Casinos

Getting your debit card ready

On an Android phone, open Google Wallet, tap Add to Wallet, then Payment card. Scan your debit card or enter the details, and follow the steps your bank gives you to confirm it's your card. The app needs Android 9 or later and up-to-date Google Play services. Use a card in your own name, with the billing address your bank has for you.

Your bank decides which debit cards work with Wallet, and the casino must accept yours too. Adding a card doesn't guarantee every payment will go through.

You'll need a debit card even if you normally pay with a credit card through Google. The Gambling Commission banned credit-card gambling payments at UK-licensed online casinos from 14 April 2020, including payments through digital wallets. Adding a credit card to Google Pay doesn't get around that rule at a UKGC-licensed casino.

Can you use a computer or an iPhone?

Yes, if the casino supports Google Pay on that device. Google's supported browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. You may be able to stay on your laptop rather than switch to a phone just to deposit.

To save a card on a computer, open the Google Wallet website and choose Payment methods, then Add payment method. Use the same Google Account at the casino. With separate work and home accounts, it's easy to open the wrong one and wonder where your card has gone.

Making a deposit

Taking a welcome offer? Look at how to claim it before paying. You may need to tick a box or enter a code first. Then open the casino's deposit section:

  1. Choose Google Pay and enter your deposit amount.
  2. Select the debit card you want to use.
  3. Confirm the amount and currency, and approve any request from your bank or device.
  4. Return to the casino and wait for the money to appear in your balance.

If the Google Pay button is missing, tell support your device, browser and whether you're using the app or website. They can check whether it's available for you before you start changing settings.

Google Pay Fees and Limits

Google Wallet is free to use, but your bank or casino may charge for a payment. Look at the total before approving it. If your bank account, casino account and payment all use pounds, there's no currency to convert. Using a euro bank account may mean a conversion charge from your bank.

Choose Google Pay in the cashier to see the minimum and maximum deposit. Your own casino deposit limit and any bank payment limit still apply.

A welcome offer can require a higher deposit than ordinary play. I'd rather discover that while comparing offers than after paying. If the bonus needs more than you planned to deposit, you can choose another offer or leave the bonus out.

Google Pay Casino Bonuses

Fancy free spins or a deposit match? Compare the welcome offers at our recommended Google Pay casinos below, with bonus amounts and key conditions alongside each offer.

With no-wagering free spins, you may still need to deposit and play through a set amount to earn them. Any winnings from those spins then have no further wagering requirements. Deposit matches usually come with wagering requirements, plus limits on bets, games and time.

Found one you like? Read the full terms, including payment exclusions, and opt in before depositing if required. I'd check the deadlines too: the time to use free spins can differ from the time to wager any winnings.

Google Pay Casino Withdrawals

You've paid in with Google Pay, so will the winnings come back the same way? That depends on the casino. Some use Google Pay for deposits only and pay withdrawals by debit card or bank transfer instead.

Google helps you approve the card payment; it doesn't hold a balance for you. The card saved in Wallet may not be available for withdrawals at that casino, even though the deposit worked.

Before depositing, look at the withdrawal menu or ask support: "After a Google Pay deposit, how will you pay my withdrawal, and what will you need from me?" A bank transfer needs an account in your own name, and the casino may request a statement to verify it.

Your cash and bonus funds should be shown separately in your casino account. Under Gambling Commission rules, you can withdraw your remaining deposit and winnings from that cash without completing bonus wagering requirements. Cancelling a bonus may mean losing the bonus and winnings from it. Identity and other legally required checks can still apply.

How long will the withdrawal take?

I'd want an estimate for when the money should reach my bank, including casino approval time and weekends. If a withdrawal is late, ask whether it has been sent. A payment reference can help your bank trace a sent payment; otherwise, the casino needs to explain the delay.

Being asked for documents just as you're withdrawing can be frustrating. The Gambling Commission says casinos shouldn't leave requests until then if they could reasonably have asked earlier. Further legal checks may still be needed. Ask what's missing and send documents through the casino's secure upload area.

When a Google Pay Deposit Goes Wrong

The card works in shops, so why not online?

Google has separate rules for online and contactless payments. 'Card isn't ready to pay online' means the card can't currently pay on websites or in apps, even if it works in a shop. Give your bank the exact message and explain that you're making a Google Pay casino deposit online.

The reverse can happen too: a card saved with Google may work online even if you couldn't set up contactless payments.

The bank shows a payment, but the casino doesn't

This is the one that would worry me: the bank balance has gone down and the casino balance hasn't changed. Before you make another deposit, open the first payment in your banking app. Google says your bank has the full transaction details, which Wallet may not show.

'Pending' may mean your bank has set the amount aside while the payment goes through. That can reduce your available balance before the casino receives the money. Ask casino support whether they can see the deposit.

If the bank shows 'completed', give support the amount, date and reference so they can investigate. Ask when they'll get back to you. If the casino can't find the payment, contact your bank with those details and the casino's reply. Keeping the messages together saves explaining everything again when someone else picks up the conversation.

The payment is declined

'Declined' isn't much of an explanation, is it? Look for a message about an expired card, old billing address or unfinished security check. Your bank can explain a bank decline; Google may not know why it happened.

Before trying again, make sure the first attempt hasn't left a pending payment. If you've turned on a gambling block, let it do what you set it up to do.

Google Pay Security and Account Checks

Google encrypts your payment information. Keep your phone locked, and never give anyone your password or bank approval codes to "fix" a deposit.

The casino must still verify your age and identity before gambling under Gambling Commission rules. If electronic checks aren't enough, it may request documents such as a passport, driving licence or proof of address.

Taking a Break

If you'd like a break, your bank may let you block gambling payments, including deposits through Google Pay. Deleting a card from Wallet doesn't stop you paying with the card details elsewhere.

NatWest customers can open their account in the banking app, choose Manage my card, then Card payment controls and switch gambling payments off. NatWest says this covers Google Pay too. Other banks have their own controls, and blocks rely on payments being recognised as gambling.

You can also self-exclude with a casino or use GAMSTOP for UK-licensed gambling sites. GamCare is there if you'd like to talk. You don't have to work it all out on your own.

FAQ

Can I use Google Pay at UK online casinos?

Yes, where the casino offers it for your account and device. Use an accepted debit card in your own name. Credit cards can't fund gambling payments at UKGC-licensed casinos, including through Google Pay.

Can I withdraw casino winnings through Google Pay?

Some casinos use Google Pay only for deposits and pay withdrawals by debit card or bank transfer. Find out how the casino would pay you before depositing.

Do I need an Android phone to use Google Pay at a casino?

No. Google Pay can work on a computer or iPhone through a supporting casino website. You don't need the Wallet app for every website payment.

Does Google Pay charge a fee for casino deposits?

Google Wallet is free. Your bank or casino may charge separately, particularly for currency conversion. Look at any fees before approving the deposit.

Do Google Pay deposits qualify for casino bonuses?

They can, unless the promotion excludes Google Pay. Read the deposit, wagering and time requirements, and opt in before paying if required.
